Any opinions on the area around Old Keane and Rolling Road in West Springfield? I'm looking into moving into NOVA soon and was wondering about that area in terms of quality of schools, safety/crime, gang issues?

That is a safe area - I can say the entire town of Burke is a safe area. Lots of condos, the entire Burke Centre housing development, families, newer shopping centers - all safe.

In agreement with Fairfax Mom--Old Keene Mill Road and Rolling Road and points west of that intersection have a very safe, neighborly feel. West Springfield and Burke are very pleasant and the schools are respected.

I concur with the other posters. Several months ago we relocated to the area and narrowed down our search to Burke/Fairfax Station/West Springfield. We love it here. There are many amenities for children, schools are very good, neighborhood is safe, and you can run your errands very easily without having to drive far. The other good thing is that if you have to commute for work, you have options available other than driving. Good luck.

IMHO, the best all around area is adjacent to the Springfield CC; the south side of Rolling and the east side of Rolling. The west side of Rolling is still pretty nice. If you can afford it--good for you. Probably looking at 475K and up. Daventry is pretty good, but for a bit more money, I would go with the country club area.

I lived right there and attended Cardinal Forest Elementary as a kid. It was great then and seemed just the same last time I visited.

Beautiful area, especially this time of year since there are a lot of large old trees. Very convenient to everything.

I would recommend staying out of central Springfield due to gangs and poor schools. Better areas include (in order ranking from best to least)

1) Fairfax Station
2) Burke
2) West Springfield

The areas I mentioned are 22152; West Springfield. Parts of "Fairfax Station" are actually Lorton. The real FFX Station is quite expensive. The 60's built homes in 22152 are much better made than the 70's homes of Burke. Burke is still nice for the money.

The area the OP asked about isn't central Springfield, it's West Springfield and most of the neighborhoods will go to West Springfield High School. (I think Daventry goes to Lee High School, does anyone know if that's correct?)
