I used to have CIGNA before, which was accepted by lot of dentists.

Now, I switched to Anthem BCBS. Since then finding dentists is a big problem.

Why is the Anthem Blue cross blue shields insurance not accepted by almost all dentists around the area?

I am specifically looking for the areas around Tyson's.

Because Anthem BCBS is a health insurance policy not a dental insurance policy. You can buy "Anthem Dental" which would be supplemental to your BCBS policy and will cover what you're looking for.

No, it does have dental insurance. I have taken dental coverage too. First year, it covers very basic and from the following year, it covers most like any dental coverage.

But most of the dentists are not taking it.

I have Anthem BCBS as my health insurance through my employer, but we have a separate dental plan. Talk to your HR department about your concerns.

I am an independent contractor, only employee in my own company.

I couldn't get dental plan through my company as the dental insurance companies need at least 2 employees.

Any suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

No offense but now I'm confused -- do you have a dental plan with Anthem (called Anthem Dental) or not? Anthem BCBS, as I said before, is not and does not provide dental insurance. You would need insurance supplemental to your BCBS policy to cover dental related claims -- just like me and another poster in this thread with BCBS, "jillybean720."

My suggestion is to check out MetLife Dental or equivalent value-minded insurers that are popular with small employers.

Good luck with your search.

Yes, I have a plan with Anthem 'Anthem Premier Dental plan'. Anthem BCBS does provide dental, you need to pay around $75 per month extra to get that added to your regular insurance premium for health insurance.

During the first year, it has limited coverages. Then it's like any other dental plan like Metlife.

Only problem I see is not many dentists accepts this.

Thanks
