I must be in the minority thinking that the food is decent for what it is, hot dogs. It isn't something that I would want to eat everyday, but I think their chili is better than my previous local option that was also fit into the same category, The Varsity in Atlanta. Which, by the way, also expanded to the suburbs. Everyone was up in arms about that too, and then somehow everyone just accepted it and moved on.

I think it is one of those places that you just eat at once, and if you don't like it, only go back when people visit and want that experience because they read that it has turned into a presidential tradition to eat there.

I will agree with that. Their breakfast is fair too if one is in the mood for it. My only point above was that people go there just to say that they have visited (sort of like a museum) and not so much because the food is supposed to be out of this world or something. That said, I've only been there like 3 or 4 times in my 7 years in the area.

In contrast, there's a place in Memphis that is BOTH a tourist spot AND has excellent food: Gus' Fried Chicken.
