I see Ben's Chili Bowl as more of a DC thing, I don't think it'll do well in NOVA. And if they're gonna move to VA, why Arlington, that's practically still DC, why not further in like maybe Fairfax city or even Manassas

Ben's is horrible! Hard Times has much better chili--IMO!

Last week they announced an H Street location and now VA. It sounds like the family is trying to cash in. Unfortunately, the food at Ben's is mediocre and the only reason people go is because TV shows are constantly calling it a "DC institution." Any new location won't have that lure so they will only be judged on the merit on food which is lacking.

Wow. I like chili. Never been to Ben's, but if it's even worse than the Hard Times chain, I never want to.

I'm seriously questioning this one. Ben's is more for a bite after getting plastered on U St, not for lunch in Rosslyn. I never eat there and I'm on U St all the time. I'm just not seeing it.

Been to Ben once, horrible food. It needs a bit government intervention to work in Virginia, I guess.

Even more sacrilege, they're occupying the former location of Ray's Hell Burger. My God, the memories... I still have two inches of gut from that place.

Ben's will cash in from the overflow crowd at Pho75. When it first snows, the line is always out the door by 11:30. I might give them a try after a few months to let the chili pot get seasoned.

Agreed. No other reason to go. And, really, only need to do it plastered once.

It's all about the half smoke. Ben's does that just as well as anyone.
