Any recommendations for good Italian restaurants in Old Town Alexandria?

My husband and I enjoyed eating at Il Porto on King Street.

Haven't tried Geranio Ristorante but it has a strong rating on Yelp (stronger than Il Porto).

Geranio is pretty good. Probably your best bet for Italian in Old Town. The have this weird setup whereby if you order before a certain time (I think 6:30 or 7), they take 10% off your food items, but they take it off after you pay (i.e. your bill will be at 100%, but they will ring up your credit card for 10% less). It's way more confusing than it needs to be. The food is pretty good, though I'm not a huge fan of their risottos (which oddly are billed as a house specialty). Where they really seem to excel is with meats. Overall it's a good place and very reasonably priced.

Landini Brothers is pretty good, on the lower end of King Street.

Vaso's Kitchen is up on Powhatan Street near Slater's Lane and has good southern Meditteranean dishes -- it's a Greek restaurant but serves a lot of pastas that have an Italian sort of flavor profile.

I think Landini's is probably the best in the tourist areas of Old Town, but Villa d'Este near the Sheraton Suites hotel is better. There are a couple on Washington Blvd. south of Old Town that are pretty good, but are not within easy walking distance.

I personally dislike Rustico, but some people like it. It is just north of Old Town in the Potomac Greens area.

Trattatorio da Franco is a love-it or hate-it type place. The food is excellent, but the atmosphere can be kind of hit or miss. The owner is Italian and the place feels very authentically Italian.

Yes, I forgot about this place. It is very, very good. It is also near the Sheraton Towers in the north part of Old Town.

Il Porto was very good, but not as good as North Beach, SF.

If you're on a budget, Pines of Florence (four blocks from the metro station) is OK.
