I used Evergreen Tree Service in Hilsboro. They did a good job and charged me a very reasonable rate - about 1/3 of what two other companies quoted me. Give them a ring at 540-668-6700. Their website is Evergreen Tree Service.

Two bids so far; ranging from $1275-$1700 (including the removal/haul away of debris). Definitely not my hoped for $500 or less! LOL
Think about the labor involved and the dump fees they might pay. There is a lot of labor and effort involved to pull this large tree down safely. Plus they need to make some profit to pay for insurance, gas etc.

Thank you for the info. I contacted them; they were quick to respond back. They came yesterday and provided a quote for me while I was at work. Their quote was in line with the others - although their quote was a bit more specific and actually showed the quote for each part (tree removal; grinding; debris removal) which was nice to know how much each part was.

Update. I made a decision on a company for the tree removal. It was a highly rated company on Angie's List with +20 positive reviews from my surrounding area. I can tell you that I would not ever recommend them and in fact find the project to be the worst service and communication that I have ever received. In fact, job is still not complete and because they were not able to grind the stump the same day (because they had failed to call to get the utilities marked) now they want to charge me more for removing the stump debris when they come out. Trying to say that "remove all debris" does not include stump debris. UGH. Very unhappy with this experience and company. There is enough challenges in life without having to deal with a poorly run company that has deplorable communication skills.

Signed....not happy in Sterling!

I recently got a quote frome the same company. They increased the tree removal fee by 400% percent compared to 18 months ago. They are now more expensive than the other companies we received quotes from.
