Hi all!
I have enjoyed reading a lot of old threads to learn more about what to expect with my future move. But now that my move date is near, I am looking for specific recommendations of where to live. I am moving from Prince William County to somewhere closer to me and my wife's jobs. I am changing job locations and will have a home office in the Dulles area with a lot of travel to the surrounding beltway areas and my wife is working in Reston (near town center). I want to be in an area with easy access to the metro and below average rush hour traffic (a relatively easy commute to the reston/dulles area). I am not opposed to living in either Fairfax or Arlington County but I want to be close to I-66. I have been looking at Falls Church and really like the 2/1 apartment at Munson Hill Towers. It is a reasobly priced nice complex but from reading about crime rate in the seven corners area and traffic build up during rush hour - I am now skeptical. |

Since you already live in the area, you should consider driving out to that area during the hours you will be commuting and testing it for yourself. I can't comment on the crime rate in the Seven Corners area, other than to note that many recent immigrants live there, and crime rates in lower-income neighborhoods tend to be higher than elsewhere. The traffic congestion is another story, but once you become familiar with the area, you will learn the back roads.
Given your job locations and desire to live near I-66, I'm wondering why you zeroed in on Munson Hill. There are other places I would consider first, such as the various Idylwood apartment complexes near the intersection of Idylwood Road and Route 7. This is right near the Route 7 exit for I-66, and the West Falls Church metro station is easy driving or even walking distance. |
