We are thinking of buying a condo in Herndon but a little bit worried about the commute. My hubby works in DC and will take metro. I need to commute to Tysons/Sliver Spring for most of the time, sometimes Arlington. I heard that the traffic sucks on the toll way going East in the morning. How long the commute will be to Tysons by 9:00am? 30 min? How about Sliver Spring by 9:00am? 1hour or more?

Also, anyone purchased Dulles Coppermine property? Is the builder "The K. Hovnanian" good? Any recommendation? Appreciated!!!

Actually, the traffic on the eastbound toll road is not that bad. I commute from Herndon to Tysons every day and it takes me roughly 25 minutes. Now, the storm we had created a one hour commute, but those instances are few and far between.

As far as Silver Spring, that would be brutal, with Arlington being a little less so.

Herndon to Tysons not bad at all. I'd say you'd avg 30-40 min easy. sometimes less sometimes more. (depending on where in Tysons you are going etc...)

also there is no metro acess in Herndon, he will have to drive (or take a bus) to Vienna or Falls Church.

He can park and the Herndon/Monroe Park & Ride and catch a bus to West Falls Church. It will take him more than a hour to get into DC depending on where is he going.

Reston to Bethesda averages about 50-60 minutes in the morning during the workweek, so I imagine you'd be about 1.5 hours each way.

Taking metro would actually be longer since you've got to take a bus to get to west falls church. I'd take metro more often if it didn't mean doubling my commute time.
