Most parts of NoVA have come really close to their pre-crash values at this point, and closer in areas are even higher, I believe. I think the price falloff was better or worse depending on location. I know our home in western fairfax has appreciated in the 2 years since we bought, and the TH we owned 6 miles North of here for 8 years was NOT underwater ever for us. Had we sold in 2005, we could have made a $50K higher profit (so, those who bought in 2005ish were likely underwater at some point), but we didn't do too badly in the grand scheme of things. I just wish I had taken my aunt up on her offer to help me buy the little condo I rented from her that appreciated more than 100% in 4 years from 1999 to 2003. Darn my low salary in my early 20s!

This thread has gone way off course at this point, though. This is never going to be resolved.
