Totally booked. Which leads me to believe this is a great place to spend Christmas..just not this one.

Lol, yeah...not to rub salt in the wound, but we started planning our Christmas trip in August. (Granted, we're going to Peru so it required a lot of planning, but still...)

Beyond that, its really serine, if you are lucky you can get flurries at the beach which is for a photographer an amazing opportunity for unique pictures. If you like authentic americana theres some decent mom/pop shops and antiques etc.

Thats how I roll, I know not the most fun for most people.

Coffee/wine/quiet
If I were single, I would do that. I doubt it would appeal to my 4 year old, though. Another great winter vacation is outer banks - rock bottom prices on amazing homes, and almost total seclusion. I used to love to vacation there in fall and winter when I was single and child-free.

Someone upthread recommended HersheyPark. Hotel Hershey is very nice. Official Website for The Hotel Hershey, A Four Star & Four Diamond Rated Resort, Located in Hershey, Pennsylvania (PA)

Other ideas:

-Asheville, NC and The Biltmore

-Cape May, NJ - lots of Christmas decorations and events Plenty of B&B's

-If you're willing to fly or drive farther, and want to go somewhere cold, Montreal and Quebec are pretty cool.

If flights are an option, 4 hours to Aruba from IAD, and the price is about the same as flying to Montreal in the 400-450 range. Would suggest hotel Manchebo if you do go, its on eagle beach

Go skiing/sledding some place with snow. Pennsylvania wouldn't be a bad place to start. Check out the Poconos.

Checked out Asheville, with an 8 hour drive, we figured we would rather fly somewhere, we are only planning on staying 3-4 days. As for going out of the country, expired passport - and not worth it for 3-4 days.

Kid is not thrilled with amusement parks, she was bored at Hershey, feels the same at Busch Gardens. Since this really is about her....

I remember hearing on the radio that flying to Reykjavic, Iceland during the holidays was really cheap relative to other destinations. Looking at pictures, I would love to do this one year.
