We are thinking of moving to Mclean and considering the Hunting Ridge development. Can anyone tell me more about what it's like to live there? We'd like to be in a nice community with friendly neighbors and a pleasant atmosphere. We're a fairly young couple with no kids. Would that be a good place? I know the traffic around Tysons can be a bear, is it hard to get in and out of the development?

McLean as a whole is a very safe area, you aren't going to find any crime-ridden pockets that I can think of. The development you're talking about is often used as a cut-through (Chain Bridge, not the actual townhome streets) by local residents to get over towards Tysons, but it's not nearly enough extra traffic to be a hassle, though I've never gone through there during rush hour. There's a small shopping center nearby which used to be kind of run down (compared to shopping centers in McLean proper) but I think it was redone years ago and is nicer now.

You said you don't have kids, but should you decide to, the school system is very nice, you're in a small pocket that feeds into Westgate Elementary, but goes to Longfellow-McLean when you reach higher grades. Most of Westgate feeds to Marshall High, I think, which is still a very good school.

I can't speak to the neighbors, that wasn't the part of McLean that I grew up in, but everything else should meet your needs as you've listed them.
