I am trying to do a smaller feast of the 7 fishes, but I am having a hard time trying to find smelts (preferably frozen). I tried the local markets around me (woodbridge) and tried the Eastern Market, but have had no luck. Any suggestions?

Did you try Global Foods in the Home Depot shopping center in Woodbridge? I'm sure I've seen smelts there before.

I'll try H-mart.

I did try Global Foods last night. They did have a good variety of fish especially anchovies, but no smelts.

Wegmans??

Aldi??

You might try the food section at IKEA. My friend buys herring there. Maybe they have smelts too.

why not just get sardines or anchovies?

You might try H-Mart or Lotte Market, both in the Fairfax area, and also in Centreville and Chantilly. Both are Asian supermarkets and have a huge selection of fish, both fresh and frozen.

Check with your local seafood grocery store and ask the person behind the counter for smelts. Could be in the back. Some stores don't carry them right in front as it's a rare asking. I have a hard time finding Kale in the veggies without asking the clerk as well.

Or you could just have smores instead. You can get the stuff for them anywhere.

If I was invited to a Feast of the 6 fishes and smores....I'd be there in a heartbeat!

If Wegman's doesn't have them, they aren't available any more.
