So we've been here for two years and thought maybe we'd do something this spring break.

Any ideas????

Depends on your definition of inexpensive.

Flights to San Juan are low $300's March/April. Go with another couple and split a 2 bedroom AirBnB. Full size car rental can be had for around $20/day as well.

Sure how about NYC for 3-4 nights? Take the Bolt or Mega Bus to NYC, stay near Times Square and hoof or use public transportation. I did this with my young kids 3 yrs ago, my RT bus fare for 4 was $80. We did Times Square south --- the ESB, Top of the Crown, Ground Zero, Chinatown and window shopped through the fashion district.

Just the word SPRING sounds so good right now. This cold weather is a bummer.

Define inexpensive?

We did outer banks one year in college. The towns were just starting to open back up, and while it definitely wasn't beach weather it was peaceful and relaxing!

So long as you don't choose the week local schools have their spring break (not sure if you have kids involved in this plan or not!), cruises are still pretty cheap in March/April. Just don't choose anything around Easter.

If you are over the age of 50, there are a few good deals in Williamsburg and Rehoboth at various "retirement villages". They let you use all the facilities (golf, tennis, pools, etc.) for free, provide coupons to local restaurants, and sometimes even let you stay in a village condo unit or a local hotel for a few days for a ridiculously low price. You have to be willing to take the tour of their village and listen to the sales pitch--but we always found that rather entertaining and it only takes up an hour or two of your trip. Of course, the reason they do this is they want to entice people to buy property--sort of like putting up with the timeshare pitches in Maui so you can get the free sailboat tour.

Be aware this is the "down" season, so you won't be seeing these towns at their touristy best. It will be quiet. Which to me is actually an attraction.

Inexpensive is relative. So let's say inexpensive is under $1000 for 2 people and you are located in Northern VA:

Roadtrip to Miami ~ $200 for gas and fees
Stop in NC to visit Charlotte or the beach ~ $100 for food/hotel
Skip SC
Stop in Atlanta to visit Coca-Cola factory and taste coke from all over the world ~ $200 for fees/food
Stop in Orlando to visit Disney World ~ $400 to enter park
Stop in Miami to hit the beach ~ $100
Drive back

Total = $1000

Man I should have been a travel agent haha!

Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, TN. You can rent a condo or cabin for a very reasonable rate on VRBO.com or homeaway.com. Plenty to do and it's within driving distance.

So frustrating when OPs drop something so relative and then don't answer questions.
