That is the long-term plan for Springfield Town Center. The dismal economy has gotten in the way and slowed it down.

I didn't know there was one there. I'm not too familiar with that area. Thanks.

If they take out "Town Center" from the name and put back in "Mall," then we'll have some progress.

We went to the Rockville Town Center for the first time this weekend. I liked it. I don't think Springfield Mall is going to feel anything like that, but we'll see.

Sounds like it'll be nice and quite a bit more upscale than it used to be. Wine and burger bar, huh? Now that sounds interesting.

I'm still wishing that they would put a Farrell's in. At one point there was going to be a new movie theater, is that still the case?

Unless something has changed and it has not been made public, I'm pretty sure that a movie theatre is still planned as well.

It sounds like it will have a nice selection of clothing stores and restaurants, movie theater - it should be a nice addition to Springfield. Long over due. It'll be so nice not to have to drive all the way over to Fair Oaks or through the mess of Tysons to go shopping. It'll be nice to have seasonal/summer retail jobs available for my kids, too.

At one point the mall was slated to open this summer, now they are saying October. Anyone know if that date is more or less firm? I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Why would you go to Fair Oaks anyway, when Pentagon City is up the street from you?

Less traffic/easier to get to Fair Oaks but PC is nice, too (I would shop there all of the time if I commuted to the Pentagon). I'm just glad that I'll have an even closer mall soon.
