We had a bunch of trees removed last year, which has let a lot of sunshine in and prompted more gardening and planting along the edges of our yard. The problem is that it has left the grassy center of the yard a sloped, rutted mess. I'd like to get someone to come in and build up the area so that we have a nice gentle slope or near-plateau. Drainage is not a concern, we are at a high spot in the neighborhood, and the plateau would be at least 20' away from the house and below the level of the foundation. (and per the other thread active today, our water flows into a field, not our neighbor's yard )

So, really, I just want someone to come in with a couple loads of fill dirt and a Bobcat and level out the area. The problem is that I have contacted a number of companies and they don't seem interested. The landscapers either don't reply or want to do grander/expensive things (looking at you Merrifield) and the drainage solutions people haven't responded at all, probably because we don't actually have a drainage problem. Any suggestions who I should be looking at? Excavation companies? They might have the ~40 cu yds of fill I need, but would they bother with this kind of work? Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated. I'm in Falls Church, FFx Co.

Try calling the equipment rental places that deal with bobcats and similar size equipment. They may be able to give you the names of a few small jobbers that can help you out.
