Wondering whats the best option - drive or bus-metro -to go from South Riding to DC (Dupont Circle). After rush hour, say reach Dupont at 10-10:30 am. If half way metro - bus to which metro st will be best option ? Total commute time ?Return trip - rush hour should be avoided from what time to what time ?Thanks in advance.

Move closer to work or get a job out in Chantilly; that's a crazy commute. Seriously if you can't work something like 6-2, you will easily be looking at 1.5hr+ commutes each way.

Thanks for the concern, Zack. Actually I will work in Chantilly so no problems work commute wise. I will need to go to Dupont location office once a while, say for half a day in 2-3 weeks, hence my question to understand what will be the best option.

The reserve on guaranteed parking spots at the Metro lots expires at 10:00 am. After that, anyone can park in them. There's a train from Vienna for downtown at 10:11. With a change to the Red Line at Metro Center, the trip to Dupont Circle would be about 50 minutes. If 11:00-ish is too late to get there, best to forget the car. There will be no place to park at the Metro between 7:30/45 and 10:00, and you'd have to scrounge some downtown for the chance to pay $15-20 at a lot.

Agree with Saganista re: parking situation at Vienna Metro. For your situation I would normally take the Loudoun Connector Bus directly to either West Falls Church or directly into DC, and Metro to Dupont, Orange to Red line. However, with your 10-10:30am time slot, it's not an available option by my estimation - http://www.loudoun.gov/controls/spee...8%3d&tabid=333 and http://www.southridingonline.com/bbs/view_topic.php?id=32&forum_id=18&highlight=commute r+bus (broken link) is what I found.

The problem with driving into Vienna is that at the 9:30am time slot that you're looking to arrive, there won't be any parking available. Anyone have a bus he can take from South Riding to Vienna Metro that leaves South Riding or closeby between 8:30 and 9am?
