How is the commute on Fairfax County Parkway near Fort Belvoir to Fair Oaks in the morning around 7:00 am? In the evening around 4:00 p.m.?

All advice welcome.

I get on the parkway further north (at Old Keene Mill) and get off on 50, just past Fair Lakes. I usually leave at 6:15 am and it's virtually always smooth sailing. The closer to 7:00 that I leave, the busier it gets, although generally even at 7:00 it's not too bad. But I don't know what that first section is like, closer to Belvoir.

The afternoon is busier for sure but still not too bad. The traffic generally starts building around 3:30 but by 4:00 it still is moving pretty well once you get past Braddock. Again, I can't speak to the traffic further south than where I get off.

My old commute involved the beltway and was MUCH MUCH worse! The parkway in general, especially at the times you'll be traveling, is not nearly as bad.

Afternoons after 4pm the south bound traffic is heavy between I-66 exit and Braddock Rd. but nothing compared to the beltway.

You should probably be fine at 7am. The most congested part is between Pope's Head Road and 66. Even when traffic is bad, it will probably add 10 mins to your commute, so not that bad.
