We are about to enter into an agreement with a local builder (probably Classic Homes) to build a SFH in Falls Church area. We were just given a contract to sign--but found that this contract strongly favors the contractor (for e.g., it pretty much exempts the contractor from any liabilities due to its own negligence).

Is there any space to negotiate?

Thanks.

There is ALWAYS room to negotiate

If you don't like the terms walk. That particular clause is a BIG DEAL, yet a standard part of the A1A contract they all like to use.

Run it by your attorney, let them make their changes, then give it back to your builder.

If they don't like the changes go with someone else. There are ALWAYS more contractors out there.

I agree-always have an attorney review builders' contracts and contract terms are negotiable.
