They may have flown over 22207, but generally don't fly over P/CC.

Fire trucks and helicopters (military, Coast Guard, and police) are MUCH more of a noise problem than airplanes.

Thanks.
I live at the North Tract Lofts in Crystal City near the newish Long Bridge Park. The plane noise is definitely noticeable, and contrary to what another poster thought, the planes do take off and land well after 10pm. In fact, I'm listening to one take off now as I type this. I've been told it's not quite as bad at some of the other buildings in the area. For whatever reason, they didn't install double paned windows in this complex when they built it, so my experience may not be reflective of the entire neighborhood.

Thanks for the feedback. I think double paned windows "help" greatly in reducing noise but they do not "eliminate" noise completely. I have double paned windows in my current home but late at night we can hear loud motorcycle throttling down the road nearby. That low frequency noise transmit through windows & walls just fine.* For aircrafts, the noise during approach & landing is not too bad but it can be bad during take-off.

I flew in today into Reagan National. It was interesting seeing how the plane lined up with the Potomac river, bank to the right just over the bridge to land. I could see the buildings along the river in Crystal City. It seemed very close!

When I first moved to the area, I heard the planes. After about a week, though, I rarely, if ever, heard them. My brain learned to filter them out.

My good friend lives in CC in a building you would THINK would be very loud due to airplane noise. It isn't.

I agree about helicopters, though. They are extremely loud, and actually hurt my ears. Thankfully, they are not around nearly as often as airplanes (they are usually only around for police or medical emergencies, as the news helicopters usually fly higher, or fly through more quickly, and thus aren't as loud). Annoying helicopters can also be around ANYWHERE, not just near airports.
