Default Greatly Appreciated!

Hey All, thank you very much for all of the great insight. I am a little more optimistic after reading these replies. I will be looking for a 3+ BR, SFH in/around the $475-$525 price range. I've found a few that seems nice in the areas I've mentioned...Any opinions on whether the Herndon area - to the Metro - to L'Enfant would likely be a bit shorter (time wise...) than the Centreville are - to the Fairfax/Vienna Metro - then into L'Enfant?

Again thanks for all of the input and suggestions!

Yes, there sees to be a bit " more house" available in the other areas for our price range. I am ruling it out though. Are the schools good (better?) in Burke than in Herndon/Centreville/Fairfax?

We just drove by a house last night in Centreville that looked nice and it was 4-something. Let me find a link. (There is a commuter lot nearby on Lee Highway.)

Great, thanks for that link. Very similar to the type of homes we've been looking at...Any options/familiarity with the elem school listed ( Virginia Run) by chance? Thx.

Virginia Run is a great school!

That model is the exact model home my brother owns. It is a very cute house.

If you work a predictable 9-5 schedule, then look at areas that are served by Virginia Railway Express (VRE): Burke, Springfield, Fairfax Sation, Lorton, etc.

I used to commute everyday from Springfield to the L'Enfant area and I always took the VRE because it is much quicker (25 mins versus 45 minutes on metro), has free parking as long as you're not getting on at Franconia-Springfield Station, and is cleaner than Metro.

Yellow line, learn it, love it. Will get you there in 20 minutes if you pick the right place because it goes straight across the river to L'enfant. Would highly suggest Springfield area, but would suggest you bus or drive/park to a yellow line station. Focus on the area starting from huntington and radiate out.
