Just got a quote today on a new fence for a new build house (complete fence does not come with house). And I was blown away on the cost for 242 linear sq feet, said it was $12K and change but gave me a discount of 40% that brings it down to $7400K.

People down the street have a same corner lot as mine and had theirs down for around $3K...same type of wood, same warranty and had it done it a day.

Any reviews on these two companies? Long and Hal Co? Or suggest another company?

It's been five or six years since we put up our fence, but as I recall Long Fence was far and away the most expensive. We ended up using Carter Brothers Fence. The price was much more reasonable and we were happy with the service, too.

We used Halco about 15 years ago for a house in Loudoun. They did a great job for way less than Long Fence. It's still standing nicely.

I used Arlington Fence. Ask for Michael. He did our wood fence and came in the cheapest. Cannot remember how long the fence was but it was substantial and came in around 5K

Also. Call Shawn 540.671.3339. He just gave us an estimate for a metal fence with PVC slats for a different property. Waiting on Arlington fence to give us the same type of estimate will go with the one who bids it less. Shawn used to work for Long Fence and says he can beat just about anyone's pricing.

Long is extremely expensive. And I can state unequivocally that an expensive fence is not necessarily a better fence. I unfortunately do not have any recommendations for Brambleton...

Thanks all. I have Halco out there looking today and will know shortly! That will be two bids, so depending on what happens, I might go looking for a 3rd bid!

Long is one of the most expensive around. They have to be to pay for their commercials on TV and in the papers. Plenty of other good fence companies around that are much cheaper.

Ok, got the Hal Co quote today and was $2300 less than the Long Fence quote. I think I will get one more quote and then decide, but so far Hal Co is in the lead!
