Does anyone know when the new Italian Store is set to open? Seems like it was going to be Fall, and then by the end of 2014, and now when I drive past it still looks like a pretty raw construction site. I was looking forward to the day where I could pick up a pizza or a sub on the way home.

The only news I see on it is this article that says they were having permitting issues in August so maybe that's what's holding them up. They are trying to get an alcohol license so that might be why: Westover Italian Store Expects to Open By End of Year | ARLnow.com.

OMG! Thank you for posting this. This will be closer to me. I love this place but stopped going because of parking.

This place is taking forever. I definitely miss grabbing a Big Gulp at the 7-11

This was a cool store to go to when I lived in Arlington. The parking lot was always a zoo though. Neat to hear they are opening a new one in Westover. I liked that part of Arlington

We live very near there. On the general principle of being glad to see anything that's not a Titlemax, raucous bar, or a 7-11 appear, I'm glad it's coming. OTOH, the one time I went to the original location, I didn't think it lived up to the hype. If you're into hard-to-find Italian specialties, it's definitely a gold mine. I tried a sub and thought it was just OK--very pricey for what you get. I'll have to try the pizza, though. (With Pupatella nearby and Pete's just down the road in Clarendon, I may not get to it for a while.)

Only place I have found that has squid ink pasta in the area. That with some morels and a couple scallops is a fantastic dinner.
