Hey Guys

I am seriously looking to buy a TH in 22150 zipcode , i really like a TH near Franconia road in a area enclosed by frontier road and beulah street . It is very close to metro (2miles) and springfield mall (2-3mile) and 3 miles from kingstowne , since I am moving from rockville , MD and I am very new to this area , i would like to know if this is a safe area for families and females who will be using a metro buses/metro train for commuting sometimes in late evening/night too.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Yes the Kingstowne area is a safe area as is most of Fairfax county. Ask you realator to get you the crime statistics for the are and compare them to the area where you currently live.

Is it in Greenwood? If so that's a very nice neighborhood and I wouldn't anticipate that you would have any problems there.

Thanks for replys guys.

The property is located at DaKine Cir, Springfield, VA 22150 right infront of springfield forest park. It is 2 miles from springfield mall where people have said it has high crime rates .it is not in kingstowne area but i believe its in close proximity to kingstowne.

The reason I am considering this property because it is close to the springfield metro station and the community looks nice.

I know exactly where that is but do not know much about the surrounding area. However I know a couple who live in the TH area on the other side of the track, off Franconia. They love it there and don't seem to have any problem. I'd say location wise it's very convenient to malls, main roads and highways (495, 95, 395, 7100), restaurants and groceries (off franconia pkwy), post office, etc.

Edit: Also want to add that the Belvoir Proving Ground BRAC move will definitely affect housing price in the surrounding area (positively) in the next few years.

You're fine there in terms of safety, the problem area of that zip code is the low-rise apartments on the other side of Springfield Mall.

"(Positively)"... I don't know anything about the BRAC move... Do you mean that housing prices will go up or down? (positively for buyers or sellers)?

When is this moving going to happen?

Thanks!

You should probably read the thread about "The Mall;" it's possibly worse than Manassas Mall. However, 22150 is still a prime location.

I would not say house price will go up but most likely will fare better than other areas due to demand. Traffic, on the other hand...
