Press Release - New Gainesville, VA : Cabela's

Cabela's® Announces Plans for New Gainesville, Va., Location
79,000-square-foot store expected to open in spring 2017

SIDNEY, Neb. (Nov. 18, 2014) — Cabela's Incorporated (NYSE:CAB), the World's Foremost Outfitter® of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, announced today plans to bring Cabela's unique retail experience and legendary customer service to Gainesville, Va.

Cabela's anticipates a spring 2017 opening for the 79,000-square-foot store. It will be located at the intersection of Linton-Hall Road and Lee Highway and will be adjacent the Virginia Gateway Center, a 1.3 million-square-foot shopping center featuring national retail, restaurant and hotel brands. Peterson Companies Inc. is the developer.

Gainesville is now Cabela's third announced location in Virginia, joining the 82,000-square-foot Bristol store scheduled to open in fall 2015, and the 97,500-square-foot Short Pump location expected to open in spring 2016. Cabela's expects to employ approximately 190 full-time and part-time employees at the store, most of whom will come from Gainesville and the surrounding area.

"The fact that Cabela's is bringing three new stores to Virginia speaks volumes to the outdoor opportunities and lifestyle in the state, as well as Virginians' passion for the Cabela's brand," said Tommy Millner, Cabela's Chief Executive Officer. "The Gainesville store also will be a great location for our customers in Maryland and West Virginia."

The store will be built in Cabela's new-format layout, designed to surround customers in an outdoor-like experience with a large mountain replica, museum-quality wildlife displays and an aquarium. In addition to thousands of quality outdoor products, the store will include an indoor archery range and archery tech room, Gun Library, Bargain Cave, deli and fudge shop.

Also, it will include a full-service boat shop and a comprehensive selection of Cabela's Wildlife and Land Management products, including tractors, attachments and implements. Additionally, the store's staff will host educational seminars and demonstrations throughout the year offering tips and insight on outdoor products and activities.

Cabela's stores showcase thousands of products, including hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, boating and wildlife-watching gear, as well as clothing and outdoor-themed gifts and furnishings. The company is famous for its strong brand and world-renowned reputation for delivering quality merchandise, value and legendary customer service.

Also today, Cabela's announced plans to open a new location in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Cabela's currently operates 64 stores across North America and has announced plans to open an additional 19 locations over the next two years.

Unfortunately, that will be the end of no sales taxes on mail orders in Virginia.

Great news - it will improve the look of that whole area once the construction is completed too. By 2017, this area will have everything we need. Best of all, it is 10 minutes from my house. My boys will love this place!

Gander Mountain is near Potomac Mills too. I'm kinda of bummed about paying sales taxes for online Cabelas purchases but these two new offerings will make it more competitive with Dicks and Bass Pro near BWI.

Cabelas is a much nicer store than any of those stores, and has a larger selection of almost everything.

Here is your typical deal that Cabela's and Bass Pro negotiate in order to place a store in any city can you spell extortion ?

Still sound like such a good deal ? There are many articles like this one....do a search.

Gander Mountain does not play that game...if anyone gets my money...they do.

While Cabelas and Bass Pro are neat to walk around in and look at the displays the prices are much higher than at other gun stores.

The guns and ammo prices at the Gander mt near Potomac Mills has the lowest that I've seen in the area. Cabelas with their separate gun vault tailor to upper end models and collectibles.
