Can anyone tell me what the commute is like from Woodbridge -particularly Lake Ridge to the Pentagon? What are the options besides driving?

Would appreciate any help you could give as we are trying to find where to live that won't be more than an hour commute for my husband working at the Pentagon.

Slug lines worked rather well. you wait at a commuter lot for people needing extra riders to go HOV.

Many people also use OmniRide, a shuttle bus service. It looks like their buses are pretty nice!

Definately slug. the pentagon lot is at Tacketts Mill. It will probably take you less than 45 min, door to door, to get to work at the Pentagon.

You have three options:

1) Slug. Slug-Lines.com - Slugging and Slug Lines Information For Washington DC for information on how to do that.

2) OmniRide. PRTC - The Ride That's Right For You for information on how to do that.

3) VRE. Virginia Railway Express Home Page for information on how to do that.

I use OmniRide to get from Manassas to Ballston/Arlington, and love it. I'm bummed I had a doctor's appointment this morning and couldn't use it today. I gather the experience will be similar on the other end of the county.

Welcome, in advance, to Prince William County!

Use the Slug Lines for sure. Just remember a few rules...>The driver sets the pace...talk, no talk, which radio station etc. It's a great way to get to and fro and if you want to drive....pick up riders at the slug line, so that you can take the HOV....Whatever you do....Don't drive 95 alone...I can't tell you how long it takes if you do, but you are sure to be late every day.

I love Lake Ridge! Great place to live.

Slug lines are okay provided you have fairly regular working hours. If you are required to work late or to come in very early, slug lines won't help you. Also, if you have to go home mid-day (your kid is throwing up at school), you are on your own as far as getting home.
