Seriously? Big difference between Leesburg and the other 3. Leesburg is a huge city compared to them.

If you are avoiding 29 then you are taking 28?

Keep in mind everyone is trying to avoid sitting in traffic. If you are happy with under an hour for 20 miles than plan on that and be pleasantly surprised if it takes less.

I would take a look at neighborhoods off Vint Hill Rd. I believe part of Vint Hill is Fauquier and another is PW County.

I meant to add the part of Vint Hill closer to 29

These posts seem to indicate that by moving to a smaller town, you are left out from the amenities of the other places. There is certainly a big difference from Leesburg and the other three places. But the OP mentioned she wanted a cute, charming small town. The sprawl around Leesburg doesn't give me that feeling. It doesn't mean, though that those living in the smaller towns can't go to Leesburg. I do it all of the time.

Typically traffic is moving at at least the speed limit at all times. It's a long commute for sure but it is not a highly stressful commute.
Thanks for that insight. Just the kind of helpful info I was hoping for. We've spent some time in Purcellville, which is also appealing to us, but would be a longer drive.

I don't disagree with you on these points and Middleburg is certainly a charming town. Wife used to work there. Upperville is just an expensive country area and Marshall is not too bad as a charming town but not on the same level as Middleburg. Leesburg has its charm but it certainly is growing into a big town.

What time will he need to be at work? Important factor..
I live off of 15 in Haymarket. If the OP is coming from Leesburg to I-66 in the morning and north in the afternoon, 15 is definitely not a PITA. It does get backed up for about a mile going south to I-66 in the afternoon. This equates to about a 10 min delay most weekday evenings, more on Fridays, but there isn't any delays going north. They are about to modify the US-15 and I-66 interchange and make it weird (everyone will pretend they are british and drive on the left hand side of the road at the intersection). I'm not convinced it will make things better, but who knows.

No way I'd live out in the boonies of north Loudoun county if I worked at the airport in Manassas. Try Nokesville, Bristow... gosh about anything else would be closer.
