bigfoot, thanks again for the helpful replies.

One other thing I'm wondering is how exactly I should handle the court appearance. ie.... what am I looking for? Should I just look for the officer? Look for the DA? What do you think I should say? How early do you think I should show up?
Sorry, but I don't spend much time in courthouses...lol.
Any specific pointers with regard to actually doing this?
May be helpful to others, too... hopefully.

Man. I need to start charging a consulting fee. Might strike it rich. I'd start by looking for and talking to the officer. I don't know which court system you are going to so I don't know the exact details. The officer might be willing to make the deal and run it by the commonwealth attorney. Ask for a reduction to improper driving or speeding. If he won't agree to the deal then ask where the CA is so you can speak with them. Often the officers and lawyers get first crack at the CA and time may run out. Once in court many judges will call the docket then allow the CA's to go out into the hallway to finish talking to everyone.
I'd show up about 30 minutes early. Keep in mind that many court systems now have metal detectors at the doors. One example. In Prince William County you cannot bring a cell phone in that has a camera or video or any type of camera. Can't bring in food or any kind of beverage unless it is for a baby or for medical reasons.

I'll talk to you: I think a night or two in jail would be appropriate, on top of a license suspension. You clearly don't have the judgment required to operate a motor vehicle. 95 miles per hour on route 28 in my mind qualifies as criminal indifference to other peoples lives.

Talk to your attorney and prepare your affairs for a couple of days in jail.

leesburg jail whoopdi doo dahhh... I was speeding cool, what heck is a ticket! I'm 19 with a perfect driving record. Really not that concerned, 12 am on rt 28, no one is to be found, i'm a gear head and into heavy heavy motor building... not an excuse at all but lets face it, a road like that is quite tempting, a time and place for everything just so happens i got caught, vs. street racing or drinking and driving i'll take a plain wrecless vs. either one of those... As long as i'm not capable of harming someone elses life i see nothing wrong with it. I could get harm with my car in park or doing 140 mph. I'm more concerned about the financial aspect to be honest. What should my funds look like in all when it's said and done??? Afterall we are talking about a ticket here... thanks both of you though!

In Maine, that would be criminal speeding and get you jail time. The blunt truth is you deserve it and maybe it would make an adult out of you.

Get a lawyer fast and be prepared to take the bus for a long time (hopefully).

I'd love to hear you tell the judge this. The expression and outcome might just be priceless. If you go to court without an attorney you're being foolish.
And it's RECKLESS.

Quick questions: Are all traffic infractions considered criminal charges that are just prosecuted in a traffic court? Is traffic court is considered a civil court or a criminal court? and if it is a civil court, and the first question is positive, I thought all criminal prosecutions are supposed to proceed in a trial by jury fashion. I was wondering if any one here has ever contested the jurisdiction of the court when fighting a reckless ticket.
