Default Where to live in Ashburn?

Hello Everybody,

And thanks for past and future help.

Our search has turned to Ashburn, and I'd like to get your opinions on the best place(s) to live there. I don't know if there's any sort of town center or walking/shopping area, but that'd be desirable, as is proximity to work, just south of the tollway in Herndon. Schools matter too.

Options are pretty open, dunno (mostly due to economy) whether to buy/rent a SFH or TH.

Homes in The Village apparently have access to the Pavilion sports 'complex'. Sounds like a nice place...is it?

We looked in the Village and Ashburn Farm and chose Ashburn Farm. We REALLY liked the idea of the sports complex and found a home there we liked, but we went with Ashburn Farm...mostly b/c it seemed a little more...I don't know what the word is...more desireable. The Farm has mature trees and just is very pretty. The homes surrounding where we bought are very clean and well taken care of where as the homes in the village were not as well maintained. (in the area around this particular home that is) The Farm does have several pools, walking trails, and tot lots but it does not have a gym like the village.
WHich ever you chose I think you will love Ashburn and all it has to offer. Good luck!

I second the opinion for Ashburn Farm. Lovely area with really pretty walking trails. Not sure about the pavilion, but I was under the impression any resident had access--maybe you have to pay a different fee? Ashburn has a comprehensive website that should give you more info. There are a lot of other sports facilities in the area.

My personal favorite is the W&OD bike trail. It's a beautiful bike path that stretches 45 miles, from Mt. Vernon to Purcellville. I like riding to Teddy Roosevelt Island. It was nicely designed, with overpasses and a few tunnel so that you don't have to stop to cross the major roads (in Loudoun, anyway--you have to cross some the closer you get to town).

anyone can join the sports pavillion. you may be on a waitng list though. It's pretty expensive for non residents. Residents of "the village" get the membership included with thier HOA fees. (I believe). We lived in Leesburg and my daughter played tennis there. A junior membership for tennis ONLY was $100 per year.

Really the schools across the board in Ashburn are very good. Farmwell station middle school is excellent.

I'd find the house/neighborhood that suits you best. really it's all nice. I believe that the "village" is the older part of ashburn.
