I returned from a weekend trip and found that my pipe has been backed up and it spew out dirt like material, thank goodness it wasn't sewage. Now I'm looking to call a plumber to check this out. Anyone have any recommendation for a plumber in the area (I live in Annandale)?

I've had good experiences with both 4 Fast Plumbing and Able Plumbing. I've used Able Plumbing for several smaller jobs and I used 4 Fast Plumbing for a larger job that I had bid out by 3 different companies. Satisfied with the work both of them did for me.

My recommendation is this: pay the small fee necessary to get on Angie's list and find a well-reviewed plumber in your area. I joined Angie's List a couple of years ago, have made use of it many times to hire home contractors, and have never been disappointed. Well worth the money.

I also agree with CapnTrips. Both of the plumbers I mentioned above I found using Angie's List and I also concur about avoiding the bigger companies. When companies are smaller, there is more direct accountability between the customer and the owners. With the bigger companies, the job done will be only as good as the tech they send out which could vary greatly from person to person.
