Smile Cost of Living in Manassas

Can anyone give me an idea of what standard of living one should expect in Manassas, assuming an income of $100K - 105K, a family of 2 kids, and seeking to rent a townhome for a start. Style of living is not extravagant, just average - meaning eat in restaurants say once in 2 months, shop at wal-mart etc.

In essence is this enough to live comfortably out there? Also interested in possibility of renting a townhome in surrounding areas close to Manassas, any suggestions of going prices?

Thanks

Hi,

I think $100K is certainly fine. I don't know rental prices too well, but I was scanning some listings and certainly at around $1600+ you are in safe territory. You could maybe spend less, but in this range you seem to be in the nice neighborhoods, many new places, etc.

I might suggest zip code 20109; there are some nice areas up off of Sudley Manor Road, heading to Bristow.

Also zip code 20111; there are some nice places in the Signal Hill area near the VRE (train station) - this is also close to a new Wal Mart

There are other options as well. Some might point you to Bristow, but again Sudley Manor (20109) is adjacent.

Best of luck!

You'll be just fine on 100k in Manassas, and I agree with everything goldenmom said on the areas to look in. On Sudley Manor, you might even be able to swing renting a single family home.

Welcome to Prince William County!

Good heavens, they won't have to send their kids to private school when there's Mullen Elementary in the mix...that's a pretty decent one, or at least it was last time I looked at the numbers. Anyone know about Sinclair? That's the other one in the area that we're talking about. Stonewall Middle and Stonewall HS are so hugely diverse that it's hard to pin a label on them - there's some sketch going on, but also some really good IB programs there.

I have just bought a Townhouse in Manassas, 20109 I agree it looks pretty decent. well Before I have been told Mullen is not a good school, can somebody really tell me about this school as we will fall on Mullen school zone. My son is on IEP program!!! The other one will be at Stonewall HS, do they have strong sport programs over there? How about gang activity at school?
