Looking to put some stuff into storage as I am having a family member taking our only "storage" room. Converting it to a bedroom. He is gonna be with us this summer for an internship. Is there a cheap, nearby place where I can take this stuff that is NOT in woodbridge or somewhere out in the boonies? I live in S. Arlington. Also, don't need top of the line security or air conditioned units as all this stuff is tables, boxes, etc. Nothing irreplaceable.

What do you consider "cheap". There are quite a few self-storage places in Arlington. I imagine all of their prices are around the same.

Woodbridge--boonies. LOL

I moved stuff in storage in Manassas to Marshall and cut the costs in half. I now get two for the price of one compared to Manassas. So I would presume this holds true pretty anywhere. Look further out and likely find lower prices.

Good point. How often will you be accessing your storage over the next few months?

I don't know, once a month.

There's some stuff I'll try to sell. So, I imagine I'll go there to meet up with potential buyers.

Unless it's some pretty valuable stuff, you might be ahead of the game to have a yard sale and be done with it. All those storage places are going to be hundreds a month...

We used Extra Space storage in Clarendon a few years ago, between home sale/purchase. For a while I think the first month was free. I don't recall what the cost was, though. It's great, though--completely indoors and climate-controlled.

There are several self storage places in Springfield and Annandale. They should have their prices posted on their web sites. You might just pay what they ask as any savings over a 3 or 4 month period won't make much difference.
