What time to leave in the morning??
Hi Everyone,
I will be moving to Haymarket in a few months and have a question. I already know traffic is horrible from that area, but what time do I need to leave in the morning to pretty much miss sitting in bumper to bumper traffic up 66? I work off of RTE 50 near FFX hospital. I'm thinking around 6, but I'm assuming 6:30 is too late. What time do you all who live out there leave and what time do you get to work? What is the best time to leave to miss the traffic? I'm hoping though you all won't say 5
Thanks everyone!

You can leave at 6, just take the back roads and pick up 66 in either Manassas or Centreville. At that time it shouldn't take more than 35 minutes to get to FFX hospital.

I'd try leaving at 6 and go from there. What time do you need to be at work by?
You might also see if there's someone you can do HOV-2 with on I-66 - that would cut your commute time from Haymarket to Fairfax in half, if not more. You could leave practically whenever you wanted if you did that.
Welcome to Prince William County!

Thanks for the welcome!! I'm glad to be there (or will be )
I need to be at work by 8:30, but I try to get there earlier though. I want to leave in the afternoon as early as possible as well, so I miss the traffic on the way home. What time does 66 start to back up in the afternoons?
I will look into ride sharing. That might be a good idea. It would be nice to be able to leave whenever I wanted.
Two girls I work with commute from Front Royal. They leave their house at about 4:30 or 5 and get to leave work at 1:30 or 2. They miss all the traffic! But it kills them on sleep

By 3:30 - 4:00 it is starting to get pretty jammed. If you get off in Manassas and take 234S to Balls Ford, you can get home pretty quickly. On the days that there are accidents, get off on 28N and turn left on Braddock. You can take Braddock to Gum Springs, turn left, then make a right on Sudley. Take that to 15S and you'll be home in no time flat. There is a faster way, but it requires you to take old gravel roads...PM me if you want those directions.
I travel that same route you have to take all the time and I'm happy to say that I very rarely have to sit in traffic. On the weekend, get out and travel the back roads. You'll be amazed at where you can get without taking any main roads. The scenery is pretty good too!

Thanks so much for the directions! I'm very glad that I won't have to leave at 5 in the morning. You're very right about exploring the roads. That will be one of the first things I do when I move. Thanks again for the help!
