Fairfax County Schools
Does anyone have any info. on Frost Middle School or Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax County? And, is GreatSchools.com the best resource for checking out NOVA schools?

Frost Middle School and Robinson High School are excellent schools. They are in safe areas and serve more affluent families.
The greatschools ratings might not be the most reliable source of information. It can give you an impression of what the atmosphere is like, but it seems like some parents write glowing reviews on there to bolster their home's value. Or they are upset that someone wrote something unflattering about their school, so they "chime in" with an over-the-top review.
The Fairfax County Public Schools website and the school's own website should be very useful. Try to read some of the PTA information; it will provide you a lot of insight into how the school is managed.

Thanks for the info. I'll check it out. My husband will be working at the Pentagon. What kind of commute is it from Fairfax County-any idea?

Thanks, I'll check that out. Do you know anything about Carson Middle School in Herndon? I'm just trying to find all the top schools in NOVA. My daughter will be in 7th grade and has always been in private Montessori School...

Robinson, Frost and Carson are excellent schools, you will be very happy!
I am biased about Carson because I worked in the pyramid, but I will say this, they high school I worked at had kids come from Stone and Carson, the kids that came from Carson were much better prepared. Great school!

You may want to look in West Springfield, if you are working at the Pentagon. It will be a little closer, with comparable schools.

Carson is amazing. The facility is beautiful and the environment is really conducive to learning. Frost and Robinson aren't bad. I don't like the size of Robinson, though. If you're looking in that area, you might want to also consider Liberty or Rocky Run. Both are also great schools.
