The only problem I've ever had with critters in NOVA was a mouse in my apartment lol.

I had spiders in my basement and flies in the summer. That's pretty much it.

Default Asian Tiger Mosquitoes

Asian tiger mosquitoes have recently set up home here. They are out at all hours of the day, they are particularly fierce, and unfortunately I discovered they like to bite me. Hopefully someone comes up with a natural way to get them to die out, because they make summer miserable for many people.

Is it true there are rats in Old Town Alexandria and DC?

In our house, we've dealt with mice, crickets (camelback and regular), all kinds of spiders, ladybugs, a juvenile black rat snake, ants, and now an invasion of brown stink bugs. Yellow jackets were a big problem in the yard last summer, but they never made it into the house. Larger outdoor pests are deer, fox, and raccoons.

We live next to the woods, which probably accounts for some of these critters.

Our neighbors had snakes in the attic. Apparently, that is not uncommon, as they slither down from trees.

If you have a home with an attic and there are trees close by, look out for squirrels setting up housekeeping in your attic. They gnawed holes in the soffit under the rain gutters in our home and once inside chewed insulaltion off some of the electrical wires. We had to get an exterminator to get rid of them and then we trimmed the trees back so they couldn't jump onto the roof.

Older homes have centipedes. Long, quick, and nasty centipedes. I once had one scuttle over my face while I was trying to fall asleep.
