It's a mile and a half to two miles, depending on the route one drives, and transit improvements affect larger areas than just immediate local neighborhoods. The flow of funds that had been set for that area on the basis of near-term major transit upgrades will now be headed elsewhere. The attractiveness of Fairlington properties declines as the result.

I generally agree with you. I am not sure why the streetcar would really have this much affect on the area. I am actually a little surprised that it is losing some value since I think it is a good area. I wonder if the nature of the older buildings and associations are causing this? I have been in some of those condo town homes and parking is not great, size is not great and they are older.

Is newer construction falling this much? There are some Condo's on 4 Mile run kind of across from the DMV that seemed to have lingered for sale for a while. Not a fan of that area back in there until you get to the single family homes.
