Hello,
I need any advice I can get.
My daughter attends school in a NOVA County public school and this past week, she informed me that she was “sexually abused” by her classmates while the teacher was present. I confronted the principal, informed police and the county CPS – Child Protective Service. The investigation is ongoing.
The teacher just resigned this past Friday, but she’s not admitting any wrongdoings.
On the other hand, I have the impression the police investigator is protecting the school system and wants to dismiss this case as if nothing happened.
I need any assistance or advice you may provide.
Thank you.

^^^ this.

And stop putting the allegations in quotes. It gives the impression that you doubt their authenticity.

A message board is not the best place to get legal advice.
From what I've experienced, investigators are supposed to be skeptical. These charges are serious and could lead to prison time so I hope that they apply all investigative diligence to this and any accusation of sexual misconduct.

I would bet you are wrong on this assumption. Many of my friends in the PD were detectives for years in the Crimes against Children unit and they went out of their way to see that the kids were protected. If a complaint was falsely made then they would do what was necessary to see the truth came out. If there was a shred of evidence showing the guilt of another party they were relentless is their gathering of evidence. I had a friend do this detective work for 25 years before he had to retire. How someone could stay in this unit so long was beyond me.

That said. I hope your kid is okay.

OP, I'm sorry to hear of this. I hope you can also get a good psychological counselor for your daughter, and possibly for you, to provide support during a difficult time.
