We have family in NY and I recall it's around $60. One thing to keep in mind with the EZPass is to make sure your preload amount is high enough to cover the tolls. My husband has had an EZpass for a long time and it refilled when the balance was below $30. We ran into a bit of a headache with NJ since the timing of the reload. It was worked out, but now we make sure that it maintains a $60 balance.

get a ny ezpass.
you get like a $4 discount for the Verrazano bridge.

also, it's easy to skip the md/De toll (both ways).
that toll is the most expensive per mile in the whole US!
it's just a cash grab by MD.

I remember when the toll was $1! I thought the toll was collected by the State of Delaware, not Maryland. In any case, I go around it each and every time. It has saved me beaucoup bucks over the years!

OP, here is another idea - drive to a New Jersey train station and take the train in. It's not cheap - like $32 per person roundtrip, but kids are half-price (free on weekends) and under 5 is free. You have to pay to park also, which is about $15, I think. You will still have the tolls from DC to NJ, but none of the NY bridge tolls and you won't have to pay to park in NY which can be quite pricey or deal with the mess that is driving in NYC. From DC, the closest station is probably Trenton, but when go to NYC we always take the Hamilton station from my parents' house in PA.

Last time I made the trip it cost about 75-80 in tolls. There's also an option on Google Maps to avoid tolls... just a thought.

Thanks for the info! I have a ez pass for when I HAVE to use toll roads but I generally avoid them by taking back roads in VA, DC and MD.

I would take a train to NYC but I have a dog and that wouldn't work..
