Hi,

Did you get your traffic violations (specifically expired inspection) dropped by a judge at Fairfax county court recently?

If yes, was the $67 processing fee dropped also?

We got a ticket for expired safety inspection ($30 Fine) but need to add the $67 processing fee on top.
Thus we may consider going to court if the entire amount can be dropped...

Much thanks in advance!

Under what grounds would they drop the entire thing? Did you not have an expired safety sticker?

It's a common courtesy for courts to dismiss fix it tickets for simple things like expired license, inspection, tint, etc. Yes, FFX county does this.

OP, in FFX county yes they will drop everything if you go to court with proof of inspection and you won't have to pay court costs. Just for reference in Arlington County they will dismiss your ticket, but no longer waive the fees for this stuff.

If that is the case, why would this courtesy be limited to those who physically show up? It seems it would be more efficient to list these type of tickets and allow everyone to benefit. For example, a box can be checked on the ticket saying it will be removed if the situation is remedied within 72 hours.

Because you have to prove you actually fixed the issue. Some random mechanic does not have the power to remove a traffic citation. First and foremost, these types of tickets are easy money for the counties - most people just mail them in. The county doesn't actually care if you fix the issue as they'll just write you more tickets ad infinitum and collect more money from you. There's plenty of rich people with nice cars that just mail in the no front plate ticket whenever they receive them.

If you take the time to come to court and prove you fixed it they cut you a break (well, not in Arlington anymore).
