It's called SnowMageddon.

Take it from someone who lived through 110" of snow, mostly in one month last year. HATE IT.

In northern VA there's supposed to be about two FEET of wet type snow. That's the kind of snow that's so heavy it takes down trees and power lines. DC is at the epicenter of this monster. They're saying it's of "historical" proportions, a rare phenomenon for your area.

So take it from a survivor of "the worst winter in recorded history" --last winter. And the snow started the DAY after I got back from a month visiting in Virginia! Be careful, don't drive, stay inside. Watch out for falling tree limbs and actual avalanches of snow crashing off your roof. (and make sure our furry friends are safe and warm.)

p.s. If you want good weather reports, not the tv hype, check out the Connecticut forum. They have a guy who's a real weather freak and he constantly posts weather maps and his own well reasoned comments.

I don't know. Deep down inside, I feel like Watson's playing a joke.

Is it the most amount of snow since 1922?

Edit: I bring this up because multiple local news outlets are indicating that, which I assume they are getting from national weather network.

Why would you call this a hoax? That is a strange word to use? I think it may be an over reaction, but that isn't a hoax. I do remember Feb of 1982, maybe there wasn't 24 inches but they reported, at the time 29inches. I guess from time to time they get confused.

I lived in this area during the 90s and remember schools were out for 2-3 weeks due to snow storm. Is the current snow storm supposed to be larger than that? This level of preparation is unprecedented for the area.

Exactly.

Snow is not falling quickly outside.
Donald Trump is not leading the polls for the Republicans.
I am not losing my hair.
The economy is fine.
Nothing to see here.

No it's not. The difference is that this time all the early models were in agreement from the beginning of the week so there was not much wiggle room.

And if the preparation is "unprecedented" maybe that's a good thing rather than have the equipment stuck in the garages like has happened in the past for both snow and tropical storms.

Where do these "models" come from?
