Springfield, VA hotels? (Franconia: service, friends, visit)

3 of my friends and I will be visiting DC for a few days in March. We cant afford anything too expensive, and it looks like the Best Western Springfield Mall looks within our means.

I was just wondering if this hotel is in a good part of town? I don't know anything about Springfield, so any insight would be great.

It's a decent area. Safety-wise it's fine, but there's nothing to do there except for the mall. The Franconia-Springfield Metro station is nearby when you want to escape Springfield and find something interesting to do.

we'll be spending most of our time downtown d.c. b/c the hotel provides a shuttle service to the metro
