Will be working at the Suitland Federal Center, we need an affordable apartment $2,000 and under and prefer access to metro station. Anyone familiar with Alexandria know whether any of these areas are decent? I appreciate the help I literally have only one day to find an apartment and we are driving down this weekend to look at these three.

I really appreciate the help!

2201 Mill Rd, Alexandria, VA 22314
5000 Eisenhower Ave, Alexandria, VA 22304
3001 Park Center Dr, Alexandria, VA 22302

All three are in pretty solidly safe areas. I'd be apt to pick the Mill Rd one since if you are metroing into Suitland, that would be the least painful commute on metro.

I think Mill Road would be the best option because you could walk to the Eisenhower Metro. I would caution you to pay attention to the noise level since it's right next to the beltway.

Eisenhower would be ranked second. Again, proximity to a metro station.

Unless you're blown away by the apartment on Park Center, I wouldn't pick that one. The nearest metro stations are King Street and Braddock Road and neither offer parking. You'd have to find an alternative way to get to those stations which adds to your commute.

I hope the OP is driving to work because taking the Yellow Line all the way in and then taking the Green Line all the way out would suck and like triple your commute time. Im not sure how easy parking is there though.

Not that it answers your question, but taking the Metro from anywhere in Alexandria to Suitland is going to be at least an hour commute with walking, etc. But driving from Alexandria to Suitland in the morning and vice-versa in the evening is a piece of cake.

Thank you all!

We are moving to Carlyle Mill. Yes, we are driving to Suitland. We just want to be by a metro for weekends to DC and Pentagon City for shopping.
