Could you please throw some light on the pros and cons between the James Madison High school and Oakton High with respect to the academics and overall school experience. We are planning to buy a home in the area, and would like to know your input/thoughts on these High schools.

Thanks very much in advance!

Both schools are great. Honestly I don't think you could go wrong with either one.

I agree, both are great. I am a graduate of JMHS and obviously am partial but they are two of the top schools in the district.
Of course, if I had to choose, it would be Madison, go Warhawks!!

You should be aware that Fairfax County is considering a boundary adjustment that would send some future Oakton students to South Lakes HS in Reston -- you should check into the details before choosing a house location.

Excellent point, South Lakes, IMO, is not where I would send my kids. I think part of the reason they are doing this whole boundary change is to get some more desirable students into SL.
