I assume you are referring to western PWC? Very large area with many good and many not so good neighborhoods. Areas such as those along Linton Hall and Vint Hill Roads are very good. Lots of families. The neighborhoods there are certainly walkable but it's not like you're going to walk to shopping and so on. If you want a walkable area you'll want to live near Old Town Manassas. Pretty good revitalized downtown with stores, restaurants and an outdoor ice skating rink that's used for many functions during the year.

Google for average temps and so on. It can get cold here but we get breaks from this. Sometimes we get a decent amount of snow and some years we get little.

Is the area you describe Bristol? What about the areas of Montclair, Lake Bridge, and Dumfries? I am thinking, for new comers from less expensive state, and with one salary for the beginning, in what area could be nice and affordable to rent. Thank you.

Montclair is in Dumfries but is the nicer part of Dumfries (22055).

Lake Ridge is in Woodbridge (22192). Lake Ridge is a great place to live, great for families, higher rated schools than other parts of Woodbridge, lots of parks and trails, etc.

Both Montclair and Lake Ridge are good places to check out.
