I am reading there are many transplants in NOVA. My family and I currently reside in Nassau County (NY / Long Island). My son is on the spectrum but not autistic. He has a speech and learning disability. We are currently satisfied with the services we get here but employment for my husband might take us to NOVA next year. Anyone know how the services are in NOVA compared to where I am now? If we did go we could only do Lodoun County or certain parts of Fairfax ....we can not go about $600k for a single family house ...2 story colonial.

Read up on wrightslaw website about transferring IEP services. The receiving district is required to provide services as described in your current IEP until such time as they can complete their own evaluation (up to them if they want to do one, it's possible to decline if you aren't up for a new evaluation). If you arrive and feel they are trying to reduce services then you can use an advocate in order to show the district you mean business.
