Question woodbridge to chantilly

I'm about to relocate from philly to dc. I'll be working in chantilly, va around rt 28 and westfields blvd. My question is what's the commute like from woodbridge via the prince william parkway to rt. 28 north to westfields blvd. Anyone take that commute. I was also looking to move maybe to silver spring, md. Is the beltway packed from silver spring to 66 in the morning. And what about 66 west to rt. 28.

The commute will be rough either way. My h works in Chantilly off Westfields Blvd. We used to live in Fairfax Station (in FFX County but only ~15 minutes from Woodbridge in no traffic) and his commute (16 miles) was over 30 minutes and this was leaving the house at 6:45AM. From Woodbridge in morning traffic expect to add another 45 min to an hour to your trip.

Why not look into moving to Chantilly or the Herndon/Sterling area? The entire area is congested so you would still have traffic but you would be a lot closer to work.

My corporate office is located in Chantilly near 28 and Westfields. I drive from Fredericksburg which is further south than Woodbridge so that adds an additional 30 minutes to my commute. The whole commute takes me approx. an hours and a half. The commuting time will vary based on where in Prince William you live and what shortcuts you take. I take 234 to 66 and jump off at exit 53.

Route 28 is a nightmare, especially during afternoon rush hour, especially in the area from Westfield to I-66 which is all of three miles at most, and can take upwards of 20 minutes to get through. I used to work in Chantilly right by Westfield, and lived in Centreville, approximately five miles away, around 1-2 miles from the exit for I-66 and during the afternoons, it regularly took me 25-30 minutes to get home.

I've never driven Woodbridge-Chantilly during rush hour, nor Silver Spring-Chantilly during rush hour but I would say both would run you an hour easily. If you are commuting Silver Spring-Chantilly on 66, it would be a reverse commute. Traffic would still be heavy on 66 but not as bad as the other direction, and the brunt of your traffic would probably be on 28 and the Beltway. This might be a doable and tolerable commute for you, but I personally would recommend living closer towards Chantilly.
