I have it thru Dominion Power and also thru my Home warranty. Our place was built in 1953. I think they will only cover up to $5000 to $7000

If you don't mind me asking, what do you pay through Dominion? I'm looking at $12 - $14 per month at the two places that are offering it.

5.99 a month. I would have to look up specifics to what it covers. I know the connection to the main sewer is not in great condition and that is under a major 4 lane road. I did not opt for the landscape coverage for 1.99 more a month. I also have some other coverage. My home warranty also covers sewer line repair also bundled in with everything else it covers.

Elect Line Repair 3.99
Water Line Rplcmnt 4.99
In Home Gas Line 3.50
Sewer Line Repair 5.99
In Home Plumbing 5.99

Thanks, those seem to be in line with what I am seeing through NOVEC or Virginia American Water.

I took out the water and sewer protection (with betterments covered ie concrete) option w VA Dominion Power. I took it out the minute I saw it offered. I cut the home warranty loose, everything coming at me was never covered over a two year period. Almost every home around me has had a either a water line or sewer line break and costing 10's of 1000's . I haven't had to file a claim, but I sleep a whole lot better lately. I think I am paying the same as you.

We recently moved into a new house and I did get the water line insurance with Dominion. It was $5/month and covered full replacement, no limit or deductible. I opted not to get the sewer line coverage. It was $6/month and only covered repair, not replacement, and had a limit of like $5k. So it seems like if I have a major issue they probably will be really dodgy about properly fixing it, if they're telling me upfront it doesn't cover replacement. I imagine with a 50 year old house full replacement is what we will need should an issue arise. I can easily hire a plumber to snake it for minimal cost if it's just a minor issue.

I thought your homeowners insurance covered the sewer, maybe it's sewer backup not replacement...

I'd be surprised if homeowners covered anything not actually located inside or under your house, like the main sewer line running out to the street

Yeah, I think it just causes damage inside the house due to a sewer backup.

Ditto. Homeowner's covers damages to interior betterments.

We had a sewer backup in a rental home and we called PWCSA.. They came out at 10PM and checked all of the sewer lines, turns out there was a backup on their part, our entire block was hit. We were house #2 in a line of 5. House #1 had it far worse than we did. They had their first level floors completely ruined. Our damages didn't make it outside the basement.

After PWCSA cleared the line, they sent out the restoration crews (now at midnight). Walker Restoration was there well into the wee hours and left turbo fans running until their return the next day. Several boxes were damaged - we were told to contact the PWCSA office with any damage claims.

My first year in my current home, a repeat of the sewer symptoms, only this time it was on my property, clogged sewer lines due to tree roots. $500 later (cheap) for snaking the line cleared the problem. The following spring, (and subsequent), I put a commercial copper sulphate product down my lines to kill any roots trying to find their way thru the hairline cracks that later become ruptures. Knock on wood, all is good, but when I saw the VA Dominion coverage, I couldn't sign up fast enough - I think everyone on our HOA board also signed up.

I've had the coverage from day one when it was offered, but I haven't seen anyone post claim experience, but I am definitely watching for it.
