New development on I-95 in Laurel MD. Will have shopping apartments, hotels, houses, and office complexes. It will be similar to Tyson Corner.

Laurel is 31 miles and 45 minutes drive away from Tyson's Corner. It may be similarly planned out but I very much doubt that Tyson is drawing from the same source of clientele.

It sounds like a disease, a relative of King Kong, or a new kind of fertilizer.....

I agree with the others that these two are not competing. What evidence do you have that if one succeeds that the other will fail?

Also the name is not bad. It reminds me a little of Kowloon.

Or a James Bond villain's secret project--a new country he's building out in the ocean, using workers who are clones of himself, guarded by an army of stunningly beautiful women with names like Candy Booty. ("I must be dreaming.")

To be fair, "Tyson's Corner" sounds like some hick town in rural Arkansas. (I refuse to drop either the apostrophe or the "Corner.")

I am more concerned with other, close-in developments in PG attracting NOVA employers/residents than Konterra
1. It's in Laurel, beyond the outer-beltway (MD200), nowhere near Metro and only accessible via MARC.
2. The county would likely focus more resources on National Harbor and PG Plaza as one is a proven establishment and the other is on the metro line and an FBI HQ candidate.
3. When was the last time you heard anyone declared enthusiastically that he/she is moving to PG County? :-)

I used to work at the Office Depot store in Laurel. Criminals from DC would roll up and try to rob the store using stolen credit cards to buy computers and other expensive equipment in bulk. They would come in and grab random items off he shelf without even looking at it.
