I live in Alexandria...before moving to the DC area I always got my tires from Discount Tire. I liked Discount Tire because you can get free rotation and balancing for the life of the tire.

Unfortunately there isn't a Discount Tire anywhere in Virginia or Maryland. The closest one is in Raleigh.

Anyone have any recommendations in this area?

I purchased from Tirerack.com last time I bought tires years ago. They were shipped to me and I had my mechanic install them. I priced out many places and they had the best price on the Michelins I wanted.

I don't think that's possible for me. I live in an apartment so I can't just have the tires delivered to me. Plus, I don't have a personal mechanic.

Yeah, on their website they have affiliated installers who will do it for you. I just wanted to use my mechanic because he was cheaper.

You order the tires, and in the shipping process you pick from one of their pre-screened installers with an installation price guarantee (in other words, they will charge you exactly what you see on the Tire Rack site, and not inflate the price when you get there). The tires are shipped directly to the installer. Last time I did it, I had new tires on my car within a couple days of ordering.

Walmart is the cheapest place, the one in Kingstown has an auto center.

The focus of the OP was to find a place that offers free rotation and balance for life, possibly even free road hazard in case the tire is damaged. Big-O offers this but again, nothing in NOVA. NTB is corporate partners but does not offer this and they will honor Big-Os warranty but for their tires, they charge like everyone else.

I use Costco pretty much exclusively now. I used Tire Rack to an installer before when I wanted a tire that Costco didn't carry.

I just used my road hazard coverage at Costco and it couldn't have been easier. The Michelins I just bought for my other car were significantly cheaper than what Tire Rack is charging for the same thing.

It would be nice to have Discount Tire here, but we don't.
