From what I've read: the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and the Tysons Partnership, a nonprofit association that represents the area's stakeholders, began rebranding the area as simply "Tysons".

Am I the only one who liked the name "Tysons Corner". Apparently, they took off the "Corner" part. But isn't that historical. Thoughts? Is it just me? I want it to remain TYSONS CORNER.

Tyson's Corner sounds uber bucolic. Historic or not, the name needs to be slimmed down and sexier, yes sexier.

I've called it Tyson's since I've lived here (mid 80's)

What's the historical significance?

It's named after a drug store that was at the intersection of route 7 and 123 called Tyson's.

But really who cares. I feel like most people called it Tysons to begin with.

Tysons seems more "city-like". Tysons Corner sounds like a shopping center, kind of generic.

I think this ship has sailed (or, it being Tysons, maybe I should say this car has parked).

Gilbert's Corner (Rt 15 and Rt 50) is still called Gilbert's Corner despite there being zero corners, as it is entirely a round-a-bout.

Maybe I should start a movement to change it to Gilbert's Circle......

.....or not, as I don't really care, and have much better things to do.....

In deference to their nifty marketing and the road signs posted on either end of Rt. 123, I just call it "America's Next Great City". To quote its most famous resident and patron saint of car dealers everywhere, The Blessed Miss Krystal of Koons, it's gonna wow you!
