I am considering buying a TH there, been through a few times, doesn't seem bad. I come from a place you can get 4br/3ba 3000 square foot houses for 250k, so this is fun :|.

Any thoughts on that area?

I am currently down the street in an apartment complex (st johns woods). I know they're not much bigger (most are 3br/1.5ba and 1200 square feet) then my 1000 square foot 2br/2ba I am paying $1720 a month for, but at least this way we'll be building equity.

Thanks all, really glad this forum exists You guys were very useful for finding st johns woods, which I love, had been here a little over 7 months.

What are the monthly HOA fees? Not the annual Reston Fee, but HOA fee?

From what my realtor says, the only HOA is the yearly Reston fee. This is one of the few complex's where that is the case he said.

That is bad advice.

You should phone the HOA office and ask.

I was in 1352 Northgate Sq in April.
My notes are: dirty, Not well kept, siding and fences looking like they're falling apart, schools ok, lots of kids around.$60 a month Hoa fee in addition to annual Reston Asso.Fee
For some reason, I attached this report to the property. I'm guessing I thought that that Shadowood Mgmt was the HOA but not sure if its so.

Ayy, that is the one we're looking at buying and renovating. How were the neighbors? Kids are OK, we have two ourselves.

I'll look into the association more, I couldn't imagine just the reston assoc covering everything.

What's that report for, I don't think shadowwood is the HOA from what i've seen.

The Shadowood condos are on the other side of the toll road. From what I could see from your link, crime is still a big problem there.

I, too, would be curious to know what shape the Northgate townhouses are in now.
